Over night Riley made some great progress. His heart rate went down considerably, and his tummy isn’t nearly as bloated as it was in the past couple days. Riley was placed in a private room last night so that we could have a bit more privacy in the ICU. We had a rough morning as far as a blood draw. 3 sticks on each arm, a stick in each wrist, and 3 fingers before they were able to get enough blood to test.
The surgeon came in this morning to assess Riley. He told us that once he opens his eyes, and is off morphine, we can take him home. I’m not sure when that will happen yet, because we’ve tried Tylenol with codeine, and it doesn’t seem to touch his pain at all. He’s on a pretty large dose of morphine, and needs it about every two hours. So… we’re definitely not in a rush to get out of here. We REALLY don’t want to take Riley home in excruciating pain. And all they’ll send us home with is Tylenol codeine.
Things are looking good. We’re just praying that his pain subsides soon. Here are some pictures from this morning.
Riley's Diagnosis
Riley James Faiai is my 2 year old son who was born with Craniosynostosis and probable Pfeiffer syndrome. When he was 5 months old, Riley had surgery to reconstruct his skull. Gosh Lauren, he's looking so much better! Hospital life sucks huh! We've been in and out so much this year, I'm glad you got a private room. I talked with you Mom and Dad@ Landon's match and they said the place where you are staying was good.
It must be difficult for you to leave his side, I hope you are getting some rest too. If you guys are still there for very much longer, I will be up to see you.
I hope you know how much you are in my thoughts and I pray for all of you endlessly. I know God is hearing us and sending his blessings.
I await your updates, thank you so much for taking your time to keep everyone close.
Big hugs..Aunt Artie!
Lauren,
He looks a lot better. Praise God. That's awesome you got your own room. We will keep praying for you all.
Love...
Thank you for keeping us updated! It means so much!! Our hearts and minds are with you constantly and it helps to know how to pray specifically. The pic of you, Lauren, is terrific. I know there is so much burden on your heart, but you exude God's peace in the circumstances. Brian and I continue to pray for strength for you and Steve and for Riley's pain to begin to subside. We love you and pray continuously!!

Yeah for the heart rate coming down. I'll start praying that we see his big brown eyes soon soon soon! He is looking better everyday.
With all that time sitting in the ICU you're getting better and better at those headers. Maybe it really could be a little part-time income for you.
Thanks for all the updates and pictures. I know it's a tough road, but hang on, your doing great! He looks better to me today.
Keep up the good work Riley!
Your in our thoughts!
