Riley's Diagnosis

Riley James Faiai is my 2 year old son who was born with Craniosynostosis and probable Pfeiffer syndrome. When he was 5 months old, Riley had surgery to reconstruct his skull. This blog is the journal, story, and timeline that has helped me put Riley's Journey into words. Post Op Update 1/8/07 8:52AM

We got home last night, see post below, and I took a couple more pictures this morning, giving more of an idea about what Riley's incision looks like. He woke up with his daddy's cold this morning, and is more hungry than EVER before. So... today, we're going to spend the day getting "back into the groove" of life. This first picture is one I took right before we were discharged from the hospital last night. The rest are from this morning.

It is amazing to me that we live in a time and space that medicine and technology can work on a situation like Riley's. Praise God!! For all he's been through, Riley looks TERRIFIC!! Even a smile. :) Thank you for taking the time to keep us all in the loop. You don't know how much it means to be able to walk this journey right behind you. Still praying and loving you.

He looks wonderful! You can't see me, but I'm doing the "Happy Dance" right now! I'll give you a day or two to get settled, but I'm coming over and you can't stop me!

Oh what a precious baby!! I just find this all so fascinating and I'm so in awe of what God has allowed man to do with science and medicine. And even more amazing is that Riley's not experiencing excruciating pain . . . you know us adults would be popping those Vicodin's like they were M&Ms! Ha, ha! It's good to see that adorable smile! We'll continue to lift him up for a total healing!

Me Ke Aloha,

Hey Lauren,
I was just looking at your header and I think that last picture of Riley on the timeline looks like the bully on the playground that threatens to beat all the kids up.

I will keep praying for his recovery.

Love ya.
