Riley's Diagnosis

Riley James Faiai is my 2 year old son who was born with Craniosynostosis and probable Pfeiffer syndrome. When he was 5 months old, Riley had surgery to reconstruct his skull. This blog is the journal, story, and timeline that has helped me put Riley's Journey into words. "I BONKY MY HEAD ON THE DOOR!"

If you've ever met my son, Cameron, he's probably shared this with you! Cameron is definitely classified as an "accident prone" child. He's had numerous injuries. Not just a bump or scratch, here or there. We've been to the emergency room with Cameron 5 times in his two years of life. People tell me that it's just a "boy thing"... but...I'm not buying that because I have friends with little boys who NEVER get hurt. He is not cautious at ALL. Our new favorite phrase is "safety first". But he has a hard time following that rule.

Here is a list of my son's injuries to date (pictures following description):
1. Falling, hitting his head on the granite countertop
2. 2nd day of walking- fell on the hardwood floors, chipping his front tooth
3. Bonk on head- Falling down steps at our apartment
4. Bonk on head- Running into the wall of the "penny fountain" at Grossmont center
5. Broke leg, falling off of playground equipment
6. Busted nose, smacking his head on the glass table
7. Bonk on head- Tried to stand on his toy truck, fell, hit head on chair
8. Cut hole through bottom lip, climbing and FALLING out of his crib. 7 stitches

He's been injured so many times that he tells EVERYONE about his owies. He also tells me about the "bonky on his head" when he's in timeout, thinking he'll get sympathy from me...he does. It works every time. The boy has me wrapped around his finger.

OH little bahy...I'm so sorry you hurt yourself so much. I hope you're using up all your owies now so you will have less when you get older.

I would be a sucker for that sweet little voice too.

Sorry L I'm apparently the only one who reads your blogs. Don't let that stop you. I promise to keep reading and you know I will.
