Riley's Diagnosis

Riley James Faiai is my 2 year old son who was born with Craniosynostosis and probable Pfeiffer syndrome. When he was 5 months old, Riley had surgery to reconstruct his skull. Grandma's Best Friend

We went to the desert this past weekend to work on one of our cabins with my family. We've been remodeling for about a year and are getting pretty close to being finished. Steve and I had to be at church on Friday for our Friday Night Service, but we were determined to drive to our cabin that night so that we could wake up early to watch the sun rise. We took Riley with us, so he made sure to wake us up in plenty of time. We sat out on a bench at 5:30AM and watched the sun creep up from between the massive mountain peaks.

My Grandma came out to take pictures of us staring out into the sky. My grandma is an artist, and has done some really awesome paintings for us. As she stood by us, I told her that she should do another painting soon. So...we got on the topic of art and then...my grandma decided to tell us (out of the blue) that her best friend is an artist. She sat there next to me, Steve and Riley and told us about how God is her best friend and that "this" (the landscape) was his artwork.

I know, of course, that God made the earth, but my grandma's reminder turned my attention toward the incredible detail of God's creation. He shaped the mountains with every rock and shrub. He placed the clouds perfectly between the sky and land. He made the sun just bright enough to give us warmth. And the same God who created the immeasurable horizon, created my heart. And yours. And HE loves us immeasurably.

Here are some pictures we took during sunrise out at the desert. Enjoy.

Your Grandma, my Aunt Betty is so wonderful! She is absolutely right! God is the original, true artist. I too, am always amazed at God's works when I sit and take the time to appreciate nature! The photos you took are breathtaking!
