Riley took HALF of his BAER test today. When the doctor told us it was an extensive test...he WASN'T kidding!! We were there for almost 3 hours, and only finished one ear. Riley has to be completely asleep when they do this test, and a three hour nap was long enough for him I guess!!
Anyway, as has been with EVERY OTHER appointment (it seems), we don't have any conclusive diagnosis! The doctor was able to tell us that there was definitely a TON of fluid in Riley's ears, and that he'll need tubes put in during his cranial vault repair surgery, but she doesn't know what is causing the fluid. There is also something wrong with a nerve connected to his ear. The doctor gave us the great news that Riley WON'T need to read sign language...and also the news that there's a big possibility that he'll have to start wearing a hearing aid.
I'm going to start praying that whatever is wrong with Riley's hearing will be corrected during the surgery. I have peace knowing God will answer that prayer.
Also...Riley is SICK tonight. Maybe the stomach flu. Hope not, but there's a good chance Cameron could have given it to him.
This child NEEDS to get healthy.
PLEASE GOD!!!!!!!
Riley's Diagnosis
Riley James Faiai is my 2 year old son who was born with Craniosynostosis and probable Pfeiffer syndrome. When he was 5 months old, Riley had surgery to reconstruct his skull.
