Riley's Diagnosis

Riley James Faiai is my 2 year old son who was born with Craniosynostosis and probable Pfeiffer syndrome. When he was 5 months old, Riley had surgery to reconstruct his skull. This blog is the journal, story, and timeline that has helped me put Riley's Journey into words. Surgery Update 1/3/07 9:30AM

It was a pretty long night with very little sleeping involved! We had to stop feeding Riley at midnight, so he woke up pretty hungry! We got to the hospital at 5:30am and checked Riley in. They took us in to get him dressed in his hospital gown, each doctor involved in the surgery came out to talk to us about what was going to take place, and then...away he went. That was a hard time! I don't think I've ever been more sad in my whole life!!!!! But we know he's in good hands. So...now we're just in "wait" mode. The surgery could take anywhere from 4-7 hours depending on how long it takes to prep Riley with IV's. Steve's entire family surprised us by meeting us at the hospital this morning and (check this out) they were ALL wearing T-Shirts they had made with Riley's Picture on it!! So, we have quite the crew hanging out at the hospital...and my little two year old always spices things up!! Anyway...while we're waiting...here's some "before" pictures we took this morning before he went in to surgery. Keep Praying. Thanks for checkin' in!

Lauren & Steve - it's so awesome to hear of all the moral and prayer support you're receiving from all your family and friends. God is sovereign and we all believe that the Lord's hand is on Riley during and after this very delicate surgery. We are all excited to hear the praise reports!

LOVE YOU ALL,
Fran
