Riley's Diagnosis

Riley James Faiai is my 2 year old son who was born with Craniosynostosis and probable Pfeiffer syndrome. When he was 5 months old, Riley had surgery to reconstruct his skull. This blog is the journal, story, and timeline that has helped me put Riley's Journey into words. 2.24.07 UPDATE

Thanks to all of you who are consistently checking for updates. I apologize for the lack of posts in the past couple of months. This has been a busy, HARD season for us and we're doing our best to make each day a positive and productive one!

Riley's stitches have almost completely dissolved and a nice little scar is forming...actually it's a pretty BIG scar. We haven't had anymore checkups yet, but Riley seems to be healthy and strong, and is definitely making strides in growth everyday. He's a very happy boy and is starting to show one heck of a personality.

For those of you who were wondering...We recently got notice that we were declined for financial help from the government for Riley's disability. Because the surgery corrected most of his issue, he's not really considered disabled anymore. He doesn't have close to normal levels of hearing in his left ear, but he does in his right ear, so this makes him unqualified for government assistance.

He's a sweet, strong baby boy and LOVES his daddy and brother especially. Whenever Cameron looks at Riley, he cracks up laughing. It's really funny to watch. Cameron has been helping me change Riley's diapers and he also helps feed Riley his baby food. Cameron is a GREAT big brother.

Here are a couple pictures of Riley.
Thanks again, for checking in and for all of your prayers.

After the past six months this was an awesome post to read! Sorry about the money thing but sounds like it's for a really good reason.

Hi, Lauren, I ran into your mom at the races yesterday and she told me about your family's blog. The Faiai's family love, strength and faith are inspirational! E-mail me at klanggle@cox.net and let's get together. Tell the family hello and I'll talk to you soon!
