Riley's Diagnosis

Riley James Faiai is my 2 year old son who was born with Craniosynostosis and probable Pfeiffer syndrome. When he was 5 months old, Riley had surgery to reconstruct his skull. 5.1.07 Update

This irritable, teething 10 month old has kept me pretty occupied lately and too busy to post, so sorry for the lack of updates! Riley's first tooth FINALLY broke through this morning! He's doing great. We're noticing new lumps and shapes on his head as some of the bolts dissolve allowing others to appear. His hair is growing nicely over his scar and we're starting to gain a little control of Riley's infantile eczema.

Riley had a hearing test 2 weeks ago, and we were able to find out that the surgery DID in fact help his hearing. Before the surgery, Riley's eardrum did not respond to sound. Now both eardrums are responding as normal. Unfortunately Riley didn't stay asleep long enough for the doctor to complete the hearing test, so he'll have to be admitted into the hospital next week and be sedated for a day so that they can perform an accurate testing. They test his hearing by the reaction of brain waves. So he can't be stimulated at all, that's why they have to sedate him.

Today we have a "pre-op" appointment, where the doctor will make sure he's in good enough health to undergo the hearing test procedure. He seems as healthy as he's ever been now, so that's a good thing!

Thanks for your continued prayers!
